The Mandalorian: Chapter 4: The Sanctuary

The Mandalorian: Chapter 4: The Sanctuary is the latest entry into The Mandalorian Disney Plus TV series. This episode was directed by Bryce Dallas Howard and focuses on The Mandalorian on the run with the child and stumbles upon a village in need of his certain set of skills.

Chapter 4: The Sanctuary was definitely a different episode from the rest of the series so far and without a doubt is a much simpler and slower (in a good way) episode which allows us as the audience to learn more about The Mandalorian and just spend a lot more time with him and of course spending time with the child (who continues to be as cute as ever), it is really interesting to see the relationship continuing to develop between The Mandalorian and the child and how protective he continues to be whilst caring for the child's safety. The episode of course also has its action sequences and the end sequence is definitely a stand out action set piece with the attacking raiders, attacking the village with a repurposed AT-ST. Seeing the AT-ST on screen again was fantastic and I really enjoyed the way the filmmakers made the AT-ST this invincible vehicle with those glowing red eyes, and really creating a horror aspect to episode with the walker breaking through the forest mowing down the villages, for me personally it brought up memoires of the T-Rex sequences in the Jurassic Park / World franchise stomping through the forest.

Whilst this episode was certainly a much slower episode and longer in nature and was still fun to watch, but my only criticism was that if you are a Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated TV series fan then you would of realised that the storyline of this episode is practically exactly the same as an episode from season 2  of Star Wars: The Clone Wars with Hondo raiding a small village for their harvest, and features Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ashoka arriving at the village and being asked to defend it with a group of bounty hunters. Whilst both episodes are great the similarities start mounting up and when you start to realise its practically a copy of The Clone Wars episode then you start to lose some of the surprise and wow factor but this I suppose would only apply to those fans who have watched The Clone Wars animated TV show.

Overall, this was another strong entry into The Mandalorian TV Series but certainly feels too similar to what has been shown before. A special mention must go to Cara Dune who was an excellent character addition to the series (I am sure we will see her again soon)

Verdict: 4 / 5 Stars
