The Mandalorian: Chapter 3: The Sin Review
SPOILERS IN POST
Chapter 3: The Sin is arguably the best episode so far from The Mandalorian. I have currently only seen up to Chapter 3, so hopefully as Chapter 4 has now been released in the UK it will live up to the very high standards that chapter 3 has set. This chapter focuses on the Mandalorian retuning back to the client with the desired target in the form of the child (baby Yoda), but all does not go as the Mandalorian had originally planned.
One of the greatest things about this episode is its sheer scale in terms of what it set out to accomplish, not only is this episode a story of the Mandalorian delivering the child to the Imperial client, but also sets up more information and story opportunities in regards to the Mandalorian clan, setting up more clues as to the Mandalorian past especially during The Clone Wars and the siege of his village (it was amazing seeing super battle droids and droid gunships in live action again obviously not seen in live action since Star Wars: Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith) but also setting up a redemption arc and changing the course of the Mandalorian and where the story can go in the future leading to endless opportunities now that the Mandalorian is now essentially on the run with what is one of the galaxies most prized possessions.
The chapter also manages to keep you on the edge of your seat whether you are wondering if the Mandalorian is going to give up the child, or when he is infiltrating the Imperial stronghold and credit is due to Deborah Chow who manages to balance this episode perfectly filling it with intense action sequences to moments of calm and allowing characters to grow. Of course one of the highlights with this episode was without a doubt the action with The Mandalorian shooting his way out of the Imperial stronghold and the different way he dispatches his enemies to the final standoff between some of the galaxies bounty hunters and the Mandalorian clan coming to his aid which was fantastic especially seeing it in live action (of course we have seen them in action during The Clone Wars and Rebels TV series but live action is so much more cooler)
My only criticism with this episode was that it just needed to be longer, I know that is not the worst criticism ever but the episode was so engaging that I could of just sat there and watching another half hour of the conflict at the end, or more time with the Mandalorian having an internal conflict about what to do with the child, but I suppose what we got was just perfect anyway.
Verdict: 5 / 5 stars
