WandaVision Episode 7 "Breaking the Fourth Wall" Review

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS

Episode 7 is the episode that really starts to explain and set up the reveal of who is behind what is going on in Westview. The actual episode itself follows up from the Halloween episode last week showing the ramifications off Wanda expanding the Hex, with the intention of saving Vision but with the repercussion of bring the S.W.O.R.D agents in the Hex as well.

Wanda is clearly struggling with her actions and plans to have a day to herself to think about her actions with Agnes stepping in to “look after “Billy and Tommy. Vision recovering from trying to exit the Hex stumbles upon the former S.W.O.R.D base now turned circus and meets Darcy who catches Vision up on the goings on in the real world and his fate during the events of Avengers: Infinity War. The biggest moments in this episode come with Monica in the real world attempting to break back into the Hex using what appears to be an armoured space rover style vehicle which is unsuccessful, but Monica herself manages to break through after a visually stunning entrance into the Hex with voice over call backs to her younger selves scenes during the Captain Marvel film, this of course awakens Monica’s powers and creating a new superhero to the MCU in the form or Spectrum / Photon (At this present time there is no official confirmation of which mantle Monica will adopt in the MCU.

Monica returns to Wanda’s house in which a tense stand off between the two bring Agnes back into the picture who takes Wanda back to her house. It is in these moments that we get the reveal that Tommy and Billy appear to be missing with Wanda searching the basement which appears to be a gothic style ruins and it is that moment that we get the reveal that Agnes is Agatha Harkness from the comics and has been messing with Wanda’s mind and the events in Westview since the beginning. Now a lot of us saw this this reveal coming with the names of the two characters being extremely close and her appearance with subtle clues to her true self throughout the opening episodes of the series but it is nice to get this official confirmed in the series.

Now with Agnes / Agatha revelations coming to light it certainly answers a lot of questions especially with the reveal that Agatha brought Pietro back for Wanda (although being played by a different actor) but with two episodes remaining of the overall series there feels like there are a lot more reveals coming as I personally don’t think Agatha is working a lone and her true motives need to be explored and also raises the question of what will happen to Vision once this series is over considering that the Hex is currently keeping him alive.

All these questions I hope will be explored in the last two episodes of the series, but we will have to see what Marvel have in store for us.

Verdict: 4 / 5 stars
