The Mandalorian: Chapter 7: The Reckoning

The Mandalorain: Chapter 7: The Reckoning is the latest and first part of the two part finally of the first season of The Mandalorain. The chapter was directed by Deborah Chow and follows The Mandalorain receiving a call from an old contact who draws him back into the conflict with the remaining Imperial forces searching for The Child.

Chapter 7: The Reckoning is overall a fantastic chapter. Being part one of the season finale this chapter deals with a lot of exposure and really brings you back to what started the season with the remaining Imperial Forces after The Child. One of the best aspects of the episode is the fact that The Mandalorain has to go back and recruit previous allies from previous episodes to assist him in his mission including Cara Dume, a previously killed of IG-11 (who has been reprogramed) and Kuiil. This team up sets the stage which will be a fantastic stand off against the Empire in the season finale.

I also loved all the references in this film and its new additions. First off we get some great throwbacks to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story with the inclusion of the Death Troopers and seeing them again in action was fantastic also there was some great throwbacks to the Imperial occupation of Mandalore seen in Star Wars: Rebels animated TV series and also talk of the great purge of Mandalore as well. We also got some fantastic new additions with a new variant of the Imperial TIE Fighter which has foldable wings allowing the fighter to land flat to a surface rather than standing upwards when in its landing mode. Hopefully, we will be able to see more of this new fighter in canon material.

Overall there wasn't really anything that I did not like about this episode and it really makes me excited for what is to come in Chapter 8 which is the season finale and how it sets up season 2 of The Mandalorian which hopefully should be releasing later this years.

Verdict: 5 / 5 Stars
