The Mandalorain Chapter 9: The Marshall Review

THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS

Welcome back to another review. What a year this has been but one positive to take out of 2020 for us Star Wars fans was the release of The Mandalorian on Disney +. Season one was not only a smash hit was fans but also award winning and with the release of season two it will be interesting to see if the filmmakers behind the show will be able to keep up the high standards.

Whilst I was thinking of how to write this review for The Mandalorian season two chapter 9: The Marshall I was wondering if I should do a spoiler free review, but after some time thinking I realized it would be extremely difficult to talk about how amazing this episode was without mentioning some of the big reveals throughout the episode.

Well let's get straight into the review. The Mandalorian Chapter 9: The Marshall is the first episode from season two and follows The Mandalorian and The Child as they search for more Mandalorians to help guide him on his journey to return The Child to its own kind. What I absolutely loved about this episode was that it took inspiration from a couple of episodes from the first season and expanded on them whilst delivering what felt like a true western as we come back to and explore more of Tatooine whilst not only exploring a more in depth look at the Tuskan Raiders and their relationship to the other inhabitants of Tatooine but an additional quest in slaying a Krayt dragon which is the first physical on screen appearance apart from a skeleton of a Krayt dragon which was seen in Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope. The episode was well placed and beautifully shot showing the sand dunes of Tatooine set against the action of the hunt for the dragon.

The Child takes more of a back seat in this episode but of course has its moments of pure cuteness which will please the fans, It would of been nice if The Child did more in this episode but not every episode needs The Child coming to the aid of The Mandalorian and this was a chance to see The Mandalorian doing what he does best in some great action set pieces.

But of course the biggest reveal in this episode first of all was the reveal of Cobb Vanth (played by Timothy Olyphant's who gives a great performance) wearing and using Boba Fetts armour last seen in Star Wars Episode 6: Return of the Jedi which made me very excited as a fan but it was the reveal at the end of the episode which shocked me and made me so happy which was the reveal the Boba Fett is still alive....yes you hear me he survived his encounter with the Sarlac. It will be interesting now to see what role Boba has to play in the rest of the series or if he will in fact (I really hope he does), and I can't wait to find out how Boba manged to survive and what he has been doing over the years.

Overall this was a fantastic introduction to season two, this episode was more of a filler episode in its own nature but did set the stage for the journey and search that The Mandalorian and The Child will be going on during season two.

Verdict: 5 / 5 Stars
