Avengers: Infinity War Review

NO SPOILERS!!!

"Fun isn't something one considers when balancing the universe. But this does put a smile on my face!"

Avengers: Infinity War was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, and is the culmination of ten years of Marvel Studio film of the current MCU story line. The film follows Earths mightiest heroes The Avengers and their allies including The Guardians of the Galaxy as they team up to stop the mad titan Thanos, as he goes around the universe collecting the six infinity stones. The film stars the likes of (you bet I'm going to name them, they deserve the credit!) Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Josh Brolin, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Elizabeth Olson, Paul Bettany, Anthony Mackie, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Wong, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel. Will the Avengers and Guardians succeed or will Thanos succeed in his mission....well you have to watch the film and find out (NO SPOILERS HERE!)

Avengers: Infinity War has been a long time coming, with each new MCU film comes more and more set up (even if it is in the small details) but finally the movie event of the year and the entire MCU is here!. One of my concerns before the film was released was would it be able to live up to the hype that this film was generating before its release, and would it be a worthy film considering the build up this cosmic event has received during the ten years of MCU films.... well you will be happy to hear that in my opinion the film certainly is worthy of the hype and the build up surrounding the film, and without a doubt is up there with some of the best films within the entire MCU, if not the best film (it honestly is extremely good!). The Russo Brothers have done an excellent job not just telling the story (or their adaption) of the Infinity Gauntlet saga, but have also done an excellent job managing and most importantly balancing every hero that has appeared within the MCU (which I can't imagine was an easy task at all!). Obviously some heroes get more screen time than others depending on the situation that they are in, but in my personal opinion, I think they did a fantastic job in balancing all the characters and allowing every character to have their moment to shine.

One of the strongest aspects of the film is the character work surrounding the main villain Thanos. As fans of the MCU we have been waiting for Thanos to have his moment in the spotlight (and get out of that floating chair!) and boy does he deliver! Josh Brolin gives an excellent performance and gives Thanos the intensity and power he deserves, whilst also delivering an emotional touch allowing him to feel human in a way, with clear motivations that allow you to truly understand why he is doing what he is doing but fear him at the same time, allowing Thanos to be in my opinion one of the best villains in the entire MCU. Credit is also due to the amazing ensemble cast who all give great performances including the likes of Robert Downey JR, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Holland and Benedict Cumberbatch and so many more. There are some great and intense action sequences, separated by moments of comedy (of course it's the MCU!), but even the comedy doesn't distract from the intensity and emotion that is driving the film, and is extremely well placed and timed to be effective and not distract from the situation that is in hand.

There really wasn't anything about this film that I really disliked. At times the CGI could have been a bit sharper in places especially some of The Black Order members, and whilst it does not distract from their great visual look, it is just something worth mentioning. Also the scale of this film is huge, and the film does jump around from different locations and different groups of characters as they try and stop Thanos, and whilst this is easy to follow, at times it can get a bit too much when considering how intense the film can be, and whilst some films allow scenes for the audience to catch their breath, Infinity War can be relentless at times due to its intensity and impending doom scenario can be a bit too much at time for audience members. Personally I loved how relentless and intense the film was, but it is worth mentioning for other audience members it might be a bit too much at times.

Overall in my opinion Avengers: Infinity War was well worth the wait and doesn't disappoint in the slightest. If you have been a fan of the franchise since the first Iron Man film back in 2008 and have kept with the franchise since the first film, then you will absolutely love this film. So all I can recommend is go and see this film now! And be prepared for a hell of a ride.

Remember a true marvel fan stays to the end of the credits (it's worth the wait!)

Verdict 5 out 5 stars
